Meet the Member – Linda Stewart – Hot Yoga Glasgow

‘Meet The Member’ is our blog series where we get to know the members of our business club a little better. In this post, we catch up with Linda Stewart – Hot Yoga Glasgow

Name, business name Linda Stewart : Hot Yoga Glasgow

Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it? I started practicing Bikram Yoga in London and it changed my life. Anxiety and back pain were fixed and I was like a brand new person. There was only one Hot Yoga studio in Scotland when I moved back and I knew we needed more. I wanted people to experience how their state of mind could be changed dramatically for the better with this practice. Moving back home after living in London and training as a yoga teacher in San Diego made me feel compelled to to spread a message of health and wellness in Glasgow . My Husband and I launched Hot Yoga Glasgow in June 2014.

Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey? Post on social media every day and make a genuine personal connection with your community.

What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it? Having to give up our premises after investing really heavily to renovate our and create a hot yoga studio from an office shell expecting to be there forever. At first we had no idea how the business could survive this blow. Having to run the original site and manage the build out for the new one was incredibly challenging with such a small team and financially it was really tough as we were only just becoming established after four hard years building our clientele. It took relentless work, unwavering faith, constant learning on our feet and thinking outside the box to get through this crazy time. Luckily we had a growing community behind us and a mindset to embrace change.

What is your number 1 business tip for success? Consistency is key and strategy is everything.

What are the big business goals for 2024? We want to start doing corporate wellness days at the studios. Day retreats for stress relief, team building and improving employee wellbeing.

How can the GGC Business membership help? I am looking to network with business owners to promote this service, gain advice and ideas for how to attract corporate clients (yes I am going to attend the online seminar this Thursday) and generally promote this new service.

What’s the dream? To really grow this in the corporate world. There will be a big educational element of spreading awareness about self development, mindful practices, breathwork and other strategies people can use in their day to day lives to improve stress management, increase productivity and improve health.

Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business: The moment you are about to give up is when the magic happens (this has come true to many times for me)
