Meet the Member – Fiona Campbell Arrand – The Professional Growth Company

Name, business name

Fiona Campbell Arrand – The Professional Growth Company

Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?

I set up my business in 2001 after spending ten years developing my NLP, coaching and clinical hypnotherapy skills while working full-time in sales. I trained in the evenings, weekends and holidays because I was fascinated by how mindset and communication affect performance. Alongside 1:1 business coaching for women who want more clarity and confidence, I also deliver corporate leadership development and accredited NLP training for those who want to become business coaches or strengthen their leadership skills. What inspires me most is seeing people step into their capability and lead with confidence.

Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?

The best advice I was given was to get clear on what I wanted to achieve – and then give myself time to develop. Building a business isn’t a one-off event, it’s an ongoing process. You grow, the market changes and your direction may evolve. Being flexible, staying open and being willing to adjust your course when needed is just as important as having ambition.

What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced was losing my wonderful husband, Duncan, last year. We were fortunate to have time, and during his illness we handled each day as it came. He encouraged me to keep living fully and to continue doing the work I love. What it taught me was perspective. You can’t control everything, but you can choose how you respond – and I’ve chosen to keep living and working with purpose.

What is your number 1 business tip for success?

Believe in yourself and keep going – even when others don’t fully see your vision yet. There will be moments when people question you or don’t understand what you’re building. That doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It means you need to stay steady, trust your judgement and keep taking consistent action. Confidence grows as you keep showing up.

What are the big business goals for the next year?

This year is a big one for me. I’m launching my leadership book Working with Trust, which brings together decades of experience into one practical, usable framework.

I’m also co-hosting the podcast Working with Leaders and Coaches, opening up honest conversations about leadership, trust and performance in today’s business world.

A major focus is growing my online NLP Business Circle Club, which I’ve been running for five years, into a much larger international community. Alongside that, we’re launching the Professional Growth Community — an online space for business professionals who want structured development away from social media noise.

I’ll also be finishing my next book, Working with NLP.

And something I’m actively working towards is speaking at more major business conferences on the importance of self-leadership and building trust — especially in a world that feels increasingly fast and uncertain.

It’s a year of expansion, visibility and contribution at a bigger level

How can the GGC Business membership help?

For me, the GGC Business membership is about connection and visibility within a trusted local network. Business can feel quite solitary at times, so being part of a community of ambitious, supportive women makes a real difference.

It also creates opportunities – whether that’s 1:1 coaching clients, women who want to train as business coaches, or referrals into companies looking for leadership development. I value building relationships locally, not just online, and GGC provides a space where that can happen naturally.

Most importantly, it’s about being surrounded by women who are building, growing and backing each other.

What’s the dream?

Honestly, at this stage of my life I don’t feel I need a big new dream. I’ve been living and working on my own terms for years now, and that in itself feels like success.

What matters most to me is staying fit, healthy and energised so I can continue doing the work I love. I want to keep contributing, keep learning and keep supporting women and leaders to step into their capability.

For me, the dream isn’t about more – it’s about longevity, vitality and meaningful work.

Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business!

My favourite mantra is: “I am only warming up.” It reminds me that growth doesn’t stop, energy doesn’t diminish with experience, and there’s always another level to step into.

Shout out to another local business you admire!

There are so many incredible women locally, but a few I’d love to mention are:

Suzanne Ulph from Curious Wolf, who helped me shape and publish Working with Trust, a book I’m genuinely proud of. Her insight and ability to draw out the best in your thinking is exceptional.

Heather Offord from Clarity, for her steady support and guidance — she brings both structure and encouragement when you need it most.

Sherrie Stewart from Shots by Sherrie, who has taken the best photographs I’ve ever had. She has a real gift for helping you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

And of course, Laura Maginess, for creating Glasgow Girls Club and building such a strong, supportive community for women in business.

We’re very lucky locally — there’s real power in women backing women.

Three fun facts about you!

I managed the original Comedy Store in London – which taught me a lot about people, performance and thinking on your feet.

In 1983, I moved to Abu Dhabi to run a live music bar. It was bold, slightly mad and one of the best decisions I ever made.

I genuinely love a good sauna session. It’s where I think, reset and often solve whatever challenge I’m working through
