Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?
After a 22 year career in the NHS I left to be a full time wife and mum. However, life threw me a curve ball and with the unexpected end of my marriage 6 weeks after leaving my job I still wanted to be around for my daughter so I decided to set up my own business. Fuelled by rage and the naïve belief that it cant be THAT hard!
Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?
People buy what they want NOT what they need
What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?
Getting out to network, making videos for social media has been my biggest challenge. I overcame it by just doing it! I embraced my authentic self and once I realised that a lot of people I saw on social media get hair and make up done and have professionals film them I felt a lot better about me sitting in my chair chatting away!
What is your number 1 business tip for success?
Done is better than perfect
What are the big business goals for the next year?
Gain more visibility, increase my email list, more clients and ultimately more money in the bank!
How can the GGC Business membership help?
In the words of fame “Remember my name”! If you know someone who is struggling with gut issues and had tried everything then tell them about me. I would also be thrilled to chat about a potential collaboration and opportunities to be a podcast guest.
What’s the dream?
To turn my structured 12 week Gut R.E.S.E.T. programme into an evergreen product oh and always been on top of my housework and get to the gym regularly – juggling everything is hard!
Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business!
This one is from my mum and she said it to me all the time growing up “There is no such thing as can’t, if you want to you will find a way. It might take a while but you will get there”
Shout out to another local business you admire!
Anyone who has a sqiggly career path. Coming from the NHS most people (certainly of my age!) do school, university then NHS, staying there until retirement. I admire anyone who decides to do something different with their lives and set up their own businesses. Within GGC – Susan Perry Speaker Coach, Suzanne Ulph Curious Wolf and Jen Wilson – the Healing Rebel. Out with GGC – Janine Marriot SEO Expert
Three fun facts about you!
I love knitting and always wonder if it would be acceptable to take it with me wherever I go.
Spotify would be the last subscription I would give up if I had to – music is a massive part of my life from classical to dance music, it’s a eclectic mix!
As well as Lottie my miniature schnauzer (who is a total diva!) I also have (well they started off as my daughters!) 3 rescue guinea pigs. I never would of thought that my knowledge would come in handy at a GGC event!
