Name, business name

Ailie Adam – Mair Consulting Services Ltd

Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?

I’m a consultant specialising in Leadership & People Development. I help businesses and individuals develop confident leadership skills by bridging the gap between professional success and personal growth. After a 15 year career in senior management within the construction industry, I started my consultancy business because I became a leader overnight and managed 13 people across 3 key departments and quickly realised that I had no idea how to actually manage people. It wasn’t until I started my personal development journey 4 years ago that things finally started to click for me. I realised it wasn’t about knowing what to do to be an effective leader, but more to do with who I perceived myself to be, my behaviours and self-awareness. And so – I created my business to help bridge that gap and help individuals and organisations to develop confident, self-aware and empowering leaders.

Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?

To utilise my career experience in my business. I spent 15 years building a career to Director level and I learned so much about what it actually takes to lead people – drawing on that experience is what makes my business unique.

What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?

Stepping away from my career and believing in myself enough to go all in on my business. Leaving a comfort zone is never easy but is the path to creating something bigger and better.

What is your number 1 business tip for success?

To invest in your personal growth because professional success can only truly be achieved when you work on yourself.

What are the big business goals for the next year?

To really ramp up the leadership consulting and work with both individuals and teams from aspiring leaders through to business owners. I’m hoping to expand my reach on social media and also spread the word as much as possible about how I can help businesses and individuals get the results they want from their leadership teams.

How can the GGC Business membership help?

By allowing me to meet and form relationships with other women in business. Not only does it allow the opportunity for collaboration and networking, but most importantly it puts me in a room full of likeminded women striving to achieve their goals and encourage friendships to form.

What’s the dream?

To build my business to the point where it not only provides and income by doing something I love, but that also supports my lifestyle and the time freedom I crave. I have 2 small children and love have flexibility around them – whether it’s being at the school gates to pick them up, attending mid-week presentations at the nursery or being able to spend holidays with them – my dream is to have the flexibility to thrive at work and at home.

Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business!

“Everything is always working out for me” – it gets me through the tough days where I question if I’ve made the right choice! I believe everything is always working out in my favour, even if I can’t see it yet.

Three fun facts about you!

1. I love karaoke (with the gin-induced confidence boost!) and I actually got through to the final of a signing competition on a cruise ship!
2. I’m fascinated by the law of attraction, frequency and working with the Universe
3. I’m a mum of 2 young kids – a boy & a girl
