Meet the Member – Tanith Williamson, The Moves Pilates
Name, business name
Tanith Williamson, The Moves Pilates
Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?
I’m the founder of The Moves Pilates, a boutique mat Pilates studio in Glasgow’s West End. I launched the studio in February 2026 after spending over a decade working in advertising and creative production, alongside teaching Pilates in both Scotland and Sydney.
The inspiration came from the incredible boutique Pilates studios I experienced while living in Australia. I wanted to bring that same high-quality instruction, energy and sense of community back to Glasgow. The Moves was built to help people feel stronger, move better and genuinely enjoy showing up for exercise.
Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?
Done is better than perfect.
It’s easy to spend months planning, tweaking and second-guessing yourself. At some point you need to put your idea out into the world and let your customers help shape it.
What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?
Learning that you can’t do everything yourself.
Like many founders, I started out trying to wear every hat in the business. The biggest lesson has been trusting others, asking for help and focusing my energy on the areas where I add the most value. Building a great team has allowed both me and the business to grow.
What is your number 1 business tip for success?
Consistency beats intensity.
Most businesses don’t need one huge breakthrough. They need hundreds of small actions repeated over time. Show up, keep improving and trust the process.
What are the big business goals for the next year?
To continue growing our membership community, expand our timetable and establish The Moves as one of Glasgow’s go-to destinations for dynamic Pilates. Longer term, I’d love to expand into a larger space and create education and training opportunities for future instructors.
How can the GGC Business membership help?
Running a business can sometimes feel quite lonely, so being part of a community of ambitious women who genuinely want to support each other is incredibly valuable. I’d love to build connections, collaborate with local businesses and continue learning from other founders.
What’s the dream?
To create a business that improves people’s lives, supports a fantastic team and becomes a recognised name in movement and wellness across Scotland and beyond.
