Meet the Member – Martina Davis, MM Collective
Name, business name
Martina Davis, MM Collective
Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?
After more than 20 years working in senior marketing, brand and commercial roles, helping businesses grow from start-ups into successful brands, I reached a point where I wanted my own voice to be heard. I’ve loved my career and learned so much from the incredible businesses and people I’ve worked with, but I found myself increasingly drawn to the idea of creating something that reflected my own values, ideas and approach.
I launched MM Collective in May 2026, combining my expertise in marketing consultancy with personal branding and colour analysis. The business allows me to do what I love most – helping brands grow, building meaningful communities and giving people the confidence to show up as the best version of themselves.
As a mum, flexibility was also a huge factor. With my daughter starting school next year, I wanted a business that would allow me to be present for the moments that matter while continuing to build a career I’m passionate about. For me, MM Collective is the perfect blend of ambition, creativity, flexibility and purpose.
Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?
Exhaust your current network before searching for new contacts – you will forget who you have crossed paths with in the past that could offer so much value!
What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you start.
Like many people starting a business, I spent far too much time wondering if the website was perfect, if my social media was ready, or if I should wait until everything was in place. The reality is, if I’d waited for perfect, I’d probably still be waiting!
I’ve learned that taking action, having conversations and putting yourself out there is far more important than getting every little detail right. Every client, meeting and opportunity teaches you something new.
It’s been a reminder that growth comes from doing, not overthinking – although as a marketer, overthinking is definitely one of my special skills! 😄
What is your number 1 business tip for success?
Build relationships and not just a customer base. The most successful brands I’ve worked with haven’t just sold products or services – they’ve created communities. People buy from people they know, like and trust, and that trust is built through genuine connection, consistency and showing up authentically.
What are the big business goals for the next year?
I’m focused on growing a strong client base, working with businesses that value creativity, strategy and community, while continuing to develop my colour analysis and personal branding services. I also want to build my profile locally and online, creating content that showcases my expertise and helps people understand the value of investing in their brand -whether that’s a business brand or a personal one.
How can the GGC Business membership help?
One of the things I’ve always loved most about business is the power of community, and GGC has created exactly that. Starting your own business can sometimes feel a little lonely, so having access to a network of supportive, like-minded women who genuinely want to see each other succeed is hugely appealing.
The membership would also help me raise awareness of MM Collective, make meaningful connections, collaborate with other local businesses and continue learning from women who have been on similar journeys. I’m a big believer that opportunities often come from relationships, and I’d love to become an active part of the GGC community.
What’s the dream?
The dream is to build a business that gives me both freedom and fulfilment.
Professionally, I’d love MM Collective to become a go-to name for marketing consultancy and personal branding, working with brilliant businesses and helping them grow in a way that feels authentic and sustainable. I want to build a business known for creativity, honesty and delivering real results.
Personally, the dream is having the flexibility to be there for the important moments with my daughter while doing work I genuinely love. Success, to me, isn’t just about turnover or growth – it’s about creating a life where I don’t have to choose between being an ambitious businesswoman and being a present mum.
If, in a few years’ time, MM Collective is thriving, I’m working with clients I love, making a positive impact, and have the freedom to design life on my own terms, that would be a pretty amazing achievement.
Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business!
Feel the fear and do it anyway!
Shout out to another local business you admire?
Kid Locale is doing amazing for all us mums out there and love how Hayley continually supports other businesses in the local community.
Three fun facts about you!
I teach Pound Fit classes and have been doing it for years. There’s nothing quite like hitting a pair of drumsticks to music after a busy day!
I used to lead the Visual and Commercial Team at Topshop Oxford Street in London, and one of my career highlights was dressing Catherine, Princess of Wales while she was pregnant with Prince George.
I ran my first marathon in 2024. It pushed me well out of my comfort zone and taught me that we’re capable of much more than we think when we put our minds to it.
