Name, business name

Rachel Ferguson – Rachel Ferguson Consultancy

Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?

In Spring 2025, after being lucky enough to receive Coaching as part of my Director role, I reached a professional crossroads. I decided to quit my job with nothing to fall back on and complete my Coaching Accreditation Training. As I was completing my training, I offered freelance training and consultancy services, and now I’m a fully Accredited Coach. I was also really inspired by the Mary Oliver quote ‘ Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?’ That, to me, is the essence of the work I do. We have this incredible gift, how can we create more of what’s important and dismantle what gets in the way of that? The coaching I offer is grounded in compassion, curiosity and courage. There are many incredible coaches out there, and it’s important to find the right fit.

Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?

Don’t wait for things to be perfect – just start!

What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge has been explaining what I offer when my services are so individualised. Whilst I bring a broad range of skills and experience, the service each client receives is individual to them. I’m still figuring it out!

What is your number 1 business tip for success?

Believe in yourself – you have something incredible to offer and the world needs it

What are the big business goals for the next year?

To continue to grow my network and presence

How can the GGC Business membership help?

I’m hoping to be connected to people offering similar services but also meet women bringing their own passions into business. I hope to meet more people, learn new skills and have a bit of fun along the way.

What’s the dream?

The dream is to build my own business that helps me live a life of meaning and purpose

Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business!

Do great work with great people!

Shout out to another local business you admire!

Modern Love Store. I love their incredible selection of gifts and how fun and vibrant it is, with such a unique curation of stock. So beautiful! I also admire Wee Ghost Beauty for taking the leap into something she’s in love with. Incredible!

Three fun facts about you!

My personal style has been described as ‘childrens tv presenter, I once chased a boyband through airport security to get an autograph when I was a teenager (it was 5ive and yes I did get swiftly escorted out), and my current obsession is reading Korean fiction
