Name, business name
Ally Hunter Weir, Pixel and Inked
Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?
What started as a passion for drawing and storytelling evolved into a way to capture people’s most meaningful moments—from weddings to pets to everyday magic. I’ve always loved the idea of turning memories into art, and this business allows me to do just that, with a modern, colourful twist. After creating a few pieces for friends and family, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and I realised there was a real opportunity to share my art with a wider audience. Pixel & Inked is all about joy, connection, and creativity—and making people smile when they see themselves or their loved ones brought to life in print.
Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?
“Done is better than perfect.”
As a creative, it’s easy to get stuck trying to make everything flawless before showing it to the world—but that can hold you back. That advice reminded me to just start, share my work, and grow as I go.
Progress, not perfection, has been my motto ever since. It’s helped me build confidence, take risks, and enjoy the process rather than fear the outcome.
What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?
Putting your creative work out into the world is exciting—but also scary. I constantly questioned whether my art was “good enough” or if anyone would want to buy it. That mindset almost stopped me from launching at all.
What helped me overcome it was reminding myself why I started—to bring joy, tell stories, and connect with others through creativity. Every kind message, order, and happy customer helped quiet the doubt and fuel the belief that I can do this.
I’ve learned that confidence comes with action—and that growth always starts outside of your comfort zone.
What is your number 1 business tip for success?
My number one business tip for success is: stay consistent and show up, even when it’s quiet.
Momentum in a small business doesn’t happen overnight—but every post, every message, every product you create builds trust and recognition. Keep showing up for your audience and your future customers, even when the likes are low or orders are slow.
People are always watching quietly before they buy—and consistency is what turns curiosity into confidence.
What are the big business goals for the next year?
This year, my big business goals are all about growth, creativity, and connection.
I want to expand the Pixel & Inked product range—bringing more personalised items like apparel, tote bags, and seasonal prints to life. I’m also aiming to attend local markets and pop-ups to connect with customers in person.
Building a loyal community, improving my online presence, and turning my passion into a sustainable full-time business are at the heart of everything I’m working toward this year.
How can the GGC Business membership help?
The GGC Business membership is such a valuable space for connection, confidence and community.
As a small business owner, it can feel overwhelming doing everything solo—but having access to like-minded women, resources, and local support through GGC has helped me feel part of something bigger.
From learning tips, discovering collaboration opportunities, to simply feeling seen and supported—it’s a brilliant network to grow within, both personally and professionally.
What’s the dream?
The dream is to grow Pixel & Inked into a thriving, recognisable brand that brings joy to people’s homes and lives through art.
I want to create a business that’s both creatively fulfilling and financially sustainable—one that allows me to keep designing, expanding my product range, and connecting with customers around the world.
Eventually, I’d love to have a studio space, run workshops, collaborate with other creatives, and even see my work stocked in independent stores.
Most of all, the dream is to wake up every day doing what I love, on my own terms.
Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business!
– Start before you’re ready. Show up before you’re confident –
A reminder that momentum beats perfection every time.
Shout out to another local business you admire!
Shout out to Realign – a local gem that constantly inspires me with their creativity and hustle! Watching them grow and stay true to their values reminds me what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I also got a beautiful tattoo there last year, and they were so supportive and gave off all-round positive vibes.
Three fun facts about you!
I can turn your favourite photo into a personalised piece of art faster than you can say “Pixel & Inked”!
I’m slightly obsessed with seasonal décor — Halloween and Christmas prints are my creative playground.
My best ideas usually hit me at the most random times… like in the middle of a Tesco snack aisle.
