Meet the Member – Lynn Knox, New Mind Medical Treatment Centre
I’m Lynn Knox, Clinical Nurse Specialist at New Mind Medical Treatment Centre, a private healthcare service based in Hamilton. We launched in 2022 with a clear mission: to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals struggling with addiction and mental health challenges.
We are a small, dedicated team consisting of a GP, two clinical nurse specialists, and a prescribing pharmacist. Collectively, we bring over 65 years of experience from working in NHS addiction services. Our clinic supports individuals facing issues with alcohol, painkillers, cocaine, recreational drugs, as well as mental health conditions such as low mood and anxiety.
At New Mind Medical, we pride ourselves on offering a fully regulated, discreet, and highly personalised face-to-face service. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual’s needs. We understand that NHS services, while invaluable, often cannot accommodate the schedules or in-depth needs of those with demanding lives. That’s why we offer flexible appointment times and an approach focused on early intervention—before challenges become crises.
Starting the business brought its own challenges, particularly in navigating the regulatory landscape for our niche service. However, one piece of advice that’s guided me is: “The tortoise wins the race.” Building a sustainable and effective business takes time, and I have remained committed to our vision.
Looking ahead, our goal for the coming year is to expand our service so we can dedicate ourselves to it full-time and reach even more people in need. We believe the GGC Business membership can help by raising awareness of our services among those who might benefit from support.
Our dream is simple but powerful: to help people regain control of their lives and health, and to reduce the distress caused by addiction and mental health struggles—for individuals and their families alike.
My mantra is ‘ How long will i be ironing my current uniform for?”🙂 This thought keeps me motivated to dedicate my time developing the business with a view to working exclusively for New Mind Medical.
